Ronald Richard “Dick” Shride, 71, of Decatur, IL passed away on Wednesday (August 10, 2011) in his residence. 
A service to celebrate Dick’s life will be 10:00 A.M. Monday (Aug. 15, 2011) at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Macon, IL. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. Sunday (Aug. 14, 2011) also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Locust Grove Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois.  
Dick was born on December 19, 1939 the son of George Raymond and Rayma Gladys (Sharp) Shride in Shelby County, IL. He married Annetta Okuly on July 18, 1964. He worked as a driver in transportation services for 30 years. Dick was a member of Local #279 and Retiree Club. He was a United States Navy Veteran as well.   Dick’s life was his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife Annetta of 47 years; daughter: Vicki Foster of Macon, IL; sons: John Shride of Chicago, IL and George Shride of Decatur, IL; sisters: Gladys Ward of Blue Mound and Nancy Prozzio and husband Robert of Kincaid, IL; grandchildren: Joshua Shride, Zachary Shride, Jessica Shride, Bryanna Foster, Zachary Habermaas, Bucky Foster and Zoe Shride
He was preceded in death by his son Ronald L., parents, two brothers and two sisters.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr. McCormack, Dr. Guaglianone, and the nurses and staff of D.M.H. Hospice.

Thank you so much for sharing the photos of your dad with us, you can see how much he loved his kids and grandchildren.  I don't think I ever saw him without that smile on his face, unless it was after one of the halloween parties, but he always laughed about those times later.  He was a wonderful friend to my parents and will be truly missed.
